Disaster Averted During Flood at Washington State Archives

Washington State Archives employee Karen Ferguson noticed a burst pipe upon arriving at work this morning (Friday, April 25, 2014). Thanks to a quick response, the water was turned off and the records immediately assessed for damage.

State Archivist Steve Excell noted that despite exposure to water, all of the items in their collection could be saved and the damage had not gone too far.
